There are people in this world who will always do right by their fellow man i.e. they will treat them fairly and justly -- treat them as they themselves would wish to be treated. They won't wrong any man. And then there are also people in this world who are a friend to no man. They will walk on any man. They are predators. They will, without conscience, prey on people. They will manipulate people, use them, steal from them, cheat them, lie to them, and step on them. It is part of their nature. Down at the center of their heart they are basically selfish. They care for no one but themselves. I am probing, trying to get down to the basic ingredients that make people tick. And am I not getting down to a basic ingredient in personality? Some people have basic natures of gold and others of a much more base metal. Aren't we talking about what the Bible alludes to when it speaks of loving your neighbor as yourself and doing unto others as you would have them do unto you? Jan 2000
