What is the meaning of life? We are born, we spend a period of time in this world, and then we die. As with us, so it is with plants and animals and all living things. Birth, a short life in this world, and then death. It is a universal law. It is the way things work in this material world. What is the meaning of it all? What is the meaning of this phenomenon of birth, life, and death? What is the purpose of it all? Is life a place for the soul to learn and develop and improve upon itself? Or is it a kind of spiritual testing ground for the soul? These explanations may make sense for humans who have minds and consciences and a knowledge of right and wrong, but what is the explanation for plants and animals and other living things? Why are they here? What is the purpose in their existence? Oct 1998
