The Achilles' heel of all of us: sex

The Achilles' heel of all humanity. The one point on which we
are all deeply vulnerable. Sex. Those powerful forces and
mechanisms in the form of desires, wants, urges and needs
stemming from the sex drive. That point on which none of us
are able to trust not only our closest friends, we are not even
able to trust ourselves. That seed of our own destruction that
we all have within us. Our deceitful heart, our roving eye,
our ever active imagination. Desire, Want, Lust --- that itch
to have what we ought not have. That propensity to desire that
illicit affair; wanting that which, if given, would surely
ruin our own happiness and that of others. We constantly
struggle with ourselves --- struggle against those deep,
powerful, forces within us. Primeval forces that drive male
elk, male sheep, male horses, indeed the males of many species,
into long furious battles over the possession of females and
the right to breed. Forces that drive the procreation process
in all creatures. We all have those same forces within us.
But unlike the animals we cannot simply give ourselves up to
our own cravings and desires. For to do so would not only be
against Heaven, against God; it would also be against our own
conscience and reason. To do so would be to act against
ourselves. For it would hurt other people. And when we hurt
other people we also hurt ourselves.
