Who wins in this world --- the bad or the good --- depends on your definition of success

Some people believe that "bad men win and good men lose" in
this world while others believe the opposite --- that "good men
win and bad men lose". Who is right? The answer depends on
your definition of winning, your definition of success. If
your definition of success is wealth, power, social position
and things like that it must be admitted that bad men often do
win and good men often do lose. However, if your definition of
success is happiness then you must say that "good men always
win and bad men always lose". Why? Because it is a natural
law that goodness is health and happiness to the soul and
badness is ill-health and misery to the soul. And,
furthermore, if you assume that the real reason people seek
wealth, power, social position and the like is because they
think these things will bring them happiness you can say that
the bad men who gain these things still lose --- because these
things don't bring happiness. They finally achieve them and
realize that they are sterile and empty --- that they have
spent their lives chasing after illusions and mirages that
   don't exist.
