Interviews with Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore
I have been watching some YouTube videos of interviews with Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore.
The USA has so many problems and seems so unable to deal with them. Our schools turning out children who can’t read or write (or do arithmetic) for example. (That is a huge injustice to children — it is just not right. And how much attention does it get or who really cares? Inaction is just not acceptable! And how foolish it is for the interests of our country to allow such a thing continue!) Or our ever increasing debt problem and our seeming inability to deal with it. What foolishness! The USA seems to me like a cart with horses at both ends pulling in opposite directions (with the cart going nowhere). It is a country where political gridlock on every major issue is simply a characteristic of the government.
I blame the problem mostly on modern liberalism. Liberalism is what has caused all of the mischief. Modern liberalism lies beneath the moral degeneracy of the West. These liberal ideas all started back in Europe in the late 1700s. Intellectuals started questioning God and religion and liberal, atheistic thought has become an intellectual tradition passed down through the universities and shaping laws in western countries. The Book of Proverbs in the Bible teaches
He who spares his rod hates his son,
But he who loves him disciplines him promptly.
Prov 13:24
Chasten your son while there is hope,
And do not set your heart on his destruction.
Prov 19:18
Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it.
Prov 22:6
Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child;
The rod of correction will drive it far from him.
Prov 22:15
Underneath these proverbs is the old wisdom — a wisdom developed over thousands of years. The book of proverbs comes from the Jewish king Solomon who lived around 1000 BC. What is the new wisdom? Today it is against the law to use the rod on your child. That is the wisdom of our modern West — deriving from the psychologists and psychiatrists. Back in ancient times the penalties for crimes were very severe. Like being nailed to a cross for serious crimes in ancient Rome. Today we have that “soft on crime” mentality where criminals are viewed by judges sympathetically as victims of society and are just released onto the street (or are sent somewhere for “rehabilitation”) and are soon back out on the street committing more crime and killing more people.
Where does this new age mentality come from? Our modern universities.
What is wrong with the West?! These kinds of new outlooks and mentalities is where you need to look for the answer.
The West is morally, spiritually, and intellectually sick.
Lee Kuan Yew argues that in the West the individual’s right to behave as they please has become dogma and has come at the expense of social order with drug abuse, violent crimes and shootings becoming commonplace.
I think the following YouTube videos are well worth watching.
