Attitude. Disposition. Mood.
Attitude. A complex mental state involving beliefs and feelings and values and dispositions to act in certain ways: "he had the attitude that work was fun" (WordWeb)
Examples of attitudes: Hostile attitude, belligerent attitude, angry attitude, bad attitude, sour attitude, arrogant attitude, humble attitude, friendly attitude, accommodating attitude, negative attitude, positive attitude, cautious attitude, defensive attitude, confident attitude, fearful attitude
We all have attitudes in regard to many things. Some attitudes may be very broad and general in nature. A person may, for example, carry a hostile attitude toward people in general, or society as a whole. Other attitudes are more specific and reflect our opinions and feelings on various topics. For example I am a Christian, a believer in the truth and trustworthiness of the Bible, and my attitudes on many moral issues reflect the values and outlooks of the Bible on these things. Thus attitudes are closely connected to beliefs. For example, I believe lying, sexual immorality, and stealing, are wrong and my attitude toward towards these things is very negative. I don’t like Marxism and my attitude toward Marxist ideas is reliably negative. An atheist or a person involved in an Eastern religion or the occult might have very different attitudes than I on many things because his beliefs are different.
Thus we see that our attitudes reflect our beliefs, outlooks, and values.
Disposition. Your usual mood: "he has a happy disposition" (WordWeb)
One’s usual frame of mind, or one’s usual way of reacting, as to persons or situations: a kindly disposition. Funk & Wagnalls Dict.
Examples of dispositions: Kind disposition, ugly disposition, disagreeable disposition
Mood. A characteristic (habitual or relatively temporary) state of feeling: "whether he praised or cursed me depended on his mood at the time" (WordWeb)
Examples of moods: disagreeable mood, angry mood
A wise man examines himself, examines the disposition that he habitually presents to people, examines his attitudes, and changes himself if change is called for. You have hear it said of a person, “He has a bad attitude.” Well, attitude is extremely important in life.
I believe mental problems often have their root in wrong attitudes.
