Political correctness leads to a society of Lie, Falsehood, and Sham
For years this society (as well as much of the rest of western society) has lived under the tyranny of political correctness. What is political correctness? Political correctness is where you can’t say anything that would be offensive to some minority group. So if the truth about a thing is offensive to some minority group you are just not allowed to say it. Saying it is just a big social taboo. And if any public person does have the courage to say it he can be sure of being torn to shreds. Consequently, no politician will be willing to say it, no person speaking in the mass media will be willing to say it, and all the mass media (newspapers, TV stations, magazines, etc.) will block such statements.
Could we describe this phenomenon as a general social censorship of truth? Does this sound like a prudent and wise thing for a society to do? The phenomenon does remind me of the fable of “The emperor without clothes”. Everyone could see that the emperor had no clothes but no one was willing to say it. It took a small child to speak up and state the obvious truth, “he has no clothes”. With political correctness one arrives at a situation where one just never hears the honest truth about the true causes of important social issues that are plaguing a society. What one hears instead is a whole lot of lies and falsehoods. Everywhere truth is replaced by lie.
So what are some examples of political correctness in action? Well, you can’t state any obvious truth about Blacks in America if that truth would be offensive to them, you can’t say that homosexuality is immoral because that would offend the homosexuals, etc.
Political correctness is associated with modern Liberalism and Leftist outlook. The Left is like a religion with its assumptions, beliefs, dogma, etc. and religions program people’s minds. Adherents of religions become slaves of their programmed minds. Dogmatic systems affect how people think, their ability to reason clearly, their ability to see things with perspective, etc.
What happens when you have this kind of thing at work in a society? It is the beginning of lie and falsehood. Why? Because if people are not allowed to state the true cause of things they then start stating false causes for them — causes that are “politically acceptable”, causes that appeal to the minority group involved. For example, it is not politically acceptable to state that the cause of the Black man’s problems here in America is the Black person himself; state that he is responsible for his own problems (as by wrong habits, attitudes, outlooks, etc.). But we do need to give a cause for his problems so we create another false, but politically acceptable reason for his problems. And he is told that the cause of his problems is systemic discrimination by the White man. This explanation sounds very good to the Black man because it pins the blame on the White man and relieves him of all responsibility. The idea goes over big and becomes part of the liberal narrative on the cause of the Black man’s problems in America. It is a great big lie, just like one of Hitler’s lies, but has tremendous social consequences, just like Hitler’s lies did. And this lie is spread by all of the proponents of socialism/ Marxism in our society — which includes most of our schools and universities, our mass media, many churches, and corporate America.
All of this shows how a society becomes built on an edifice of Lie, Falsehood, and Sham. And what do you think that such edifices will lead to?
