The good society and the bad society
The ideal society. The good society. The good society is the society that is made up of good, honest, moral, God-fearing people. It is the society in which each individual person is committed to following the road of goodness, virtue, prudence, wisdom, and Truth. In this society all of the institutions and organizations of the society work well because everyone is acting as he should, doing his job conscientiously and well. Everyone is living by good habits of hard work, perseverance, personal responsibility, self-discipline, honesty, politeness, consideration for others, etc. Children are well taught by godly parents, listen to their parents, and study hard in school. People are serious, thoughtful, prudent and follow good life habits. They eat prudently, don’t overeat, avoid junk food, and walk several miles a day for exercise.
The worst society. The bad society. The bad society is the society that is addicted to all of the ways of sin and badness. It is the society following Satan and all of his ways. In this society the institutions and organizations don’t work well. They are all impacted very heavily by all of the laziness, indifference, ignorance, lying, deceit, graft, corruption, arguing, fighting, self-indulgence, sexual immorality, dissolution, etc. of its citizenry. The children are spoiled by their parents, do whatever they want, are lazy, and don’t take school seriously.
The ideal society of course does not exist and has never existed. The reality has always corresponded most closely to the bad society. However, it is useful to consider these two extremes because it gives insight into what makes a society good and what makes it bad. It gives one insight into what a society should be encouraging and what it should be discouraging in the way of laws, etc.
