Faith
Faith. Belief in God or in testimony about God as recorded in the scriptures or other religious writings. Funk & Wagnalls Dictionary
Without faith it is impossible to please God: for he that comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Heb 11:6
Without faith it is impossible to please God. Think about that. What does that tell you about the kind of favor that the atheists of this world are likely to receive from God? I suggest something: In this big, wide world that we live in with all of its billions of people that special person who believes in God and diligently seeks him gets special attention from God. I believe I first heard about God and the Christian message when I was around five years old when we started attending a Baptist church. Then when I was nine, in an evangelistic service, I went forward and accepted Jesus as my personal savior. That was the most important event of my life. It shaped and formed the rest of my life. It had more influence on my life than any other event. It was at that age that I started reading the Bible. And I have been reading the Bible ever since. It has been the book of my life. God’s word. It has made me what I am. It has shaped and formed what I am at the most basic level. It has been the foundation of my life. I am now 80 years old. For 71 years it has made me different and special in a Godless world. I am a Christian. Christians, true Christians, are different. They don’t fit in. They are not part of the world. They are misfits.
Faith. Perhaps that is what I have that makes me different.
Eph 2:8-10 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
I wonder just what percentage of people in the modern Christian West have even read the Bible. The modern West is so very far from God that I suspect that it is a very small percentage. I think it is mostly people from conservative evangelical protestant sects who do read the Bible. I doubt that most liberal protestants read it. I don’t think that most Catholics read the Bible. I don’t know about Greek Orthodox or Russian Orthodox types.
All of these people on the liberal left whose minds so baffle me. If I stop and think, try to put myself in the position of a person who doesn’t believe in a God, who has contempt for the Bible and Christians, who has been following the crowd and all of the ways and outlooks of the crowd from youth; people who have been indoctrinated into all kinds of foolishness by a godless society; perhaps then I can understand all of the foolishness, idiocy, anger, and spite of the liberal Left.
