And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free
I was just lying down musing about the world that I live in. Musing about how messed up it is. How full of lie and wickedness and foolishness it is. How terribly messed up mankind is. And while musing, a scripture came to mind:
“If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” words of Jesus, John 8:31, 32
How true these words are! Is there any doubt in my mind that I am right and the entire rest of the world is wrong? There is not a shadow of a doubt! I know it in the deepest part of my soul. How great it is to know the truth and to be free! How do I know I am right? I don’t know how I know, but I know.
Just preceding these thoughts I had watched the National Geographic You Tube video “Braving Alaska”. Living in the wilderness of Alaska would be a very hard life. Still I can see myself living in a cabin out in the wilderness fifty miles from my nearest neighbor and liking it. I don’t like cities and crowds and living in a cabin in the middle of the woods was a boyhood dream. I wouldn’t want to live that life all alone but with the right wife I think I would be very happy. Why is the world so messed up? A big part of the reason has to do with the gullible nature of man and his tendency to follow the crowd. It is the influence of mind on mind and the depravity of the crowd. It is man following fad and fashion instead of goodness and truth and the personal concessions he will make for social acceptance.
