Spectators see better than actors
There is a Persian saying: “Spectators see better than actors.” No one sees himself properly. Others see him properly, however. A person is unable to see his own shortcomings and faults well but others see them very clearly. He is not able exercise good judgment and perspective in regard to himself but others are able to. The peoples of the West are not able to see themselves well but be sure that people of non-Western countries see them very well. The West is blind to its great moral depravity and degeneracy but be sure that the peoples in other lands are not.
