We are living in the new society. The new America. The America of the 90's. An America stepping to the tune of a new religion: humanism. A religion sponsored by the government and advanced by the press. Things are different from the way they used to be. Some things are in fashion and others are out. Homosexuality, perversion, promiscuity, immorality are all in. What is out? Intolerance, bias, prejudice. These are the sins of the new religion. They are the great taboos, the unspeakable crimes. The upright, right-thinking person is painted by the press and government as an intolerant religious bigot. The environment has changed. Now wrong is right and right is wrong. Evil sits on the throne. Underneath the new religion is a basic assumption: the assumption that all ways are right. There is no right and wrong. Everyone's way is equally good. God is a God of love and mercy, forgiving of all. A good God, they believe, would never create a hell or condemn anyone to punishment. Let everyone do his own thing; pass judgment on no one. All will go to heaven. This is a far cry from another outlook: the idea that there is only one right way, a narrow way, a way followed by few. And of a strict God of high standards who cannot tolerate sin --- a God who is loving and merciful to those who obey and follow him but who holds a hell in waiting for those who do not. A religion that teaches that there is a select few who follow God, a select few who understand that you cannot follow both God and the ways of sin, that you cannot mix the two. That to try to do both is self-deception. Woe unto them that call evil good and good evil; that put darkness for light and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
