What lies underneath boldness (in the brazen, forward, impudent sense)? What is the underlying cause of boldness? Isn't it an attitude of disrespect for others, an attitude of contempt for them? Or is it an attitude of disrespect and contempt for authority, rules, restrictions, and restraints (especially moral) that is the cause? Or is it both? What gives a person respect for others? Isn't it strictness and discipline in one's upbringing? Isn't it parents that are strict, that require obedience, that demand respect? What is the connection between respectfulness and shyness? Doesn't respectfulness carry with it the idea of a degree of fear and shyness? Doesn't respectfulness imply a degree of shyness? Aug 1990 More from SolitaryRoad.com:
