More than anything else a person's humor tells what he is. It tells what his attitudes, viewpoints, values, etc. are. It reveals his true character more than anything else. That is the reason there is so much pressure to laugh, or at least smile, at a person's jokes. Because not to smile is to reject his humor and to reject his humor is to reject him. What kind of humor would one expect in a true, born-again Christian? One would expect a humor that reflects the attitudes, values and viewpoints of the Bible. One would expect a humor that revealed a character of honesty, integrity, purity of mind, goodness, kindness, sincerity, etc.. One very common sort of humor is risque humor. People tell off-color stories and assume you will be entertained and smile. They flirt with an attractive member of the opposite sex using suggestive double thoughts and impure hints and assume the other will enjoy it. Men do this and women expect them to. And women do it. And both enjoy the game. And whether it is the risque story or the suggestive hint there is a social pressure to go along with it. If one doesn't respond favorably to this kind of humor he is considered a "square", a "puritan", etc.. Why do people engage in this kind of humor? Why do they joke in this way? They are testing the other person out, trying to see if his mind is as impure as theirs, to see if he is as much a child of Satan as they are. Oh, how Satan does own the minds of the children of this world! Oct 1974 More from SolitaryRoad.com:
