Q. What is wrong with magazines like Playboy, Penthouse, Hustler, etc.? Why and how are they at odds with the Bible and Christianity? A. First one must recognize what they really are, the spirit and philosophy that lies behind them. They represent a blatant glamorization of lust and lasciviousness, things that are clearly sins according to the Bible. They glamorize a "swinger" philosophy (which is really simple hedonism) which stands in conflict with the Bible and its teachings and value system. At the bottom, the spirit of this philosophy is diametrically opposed to such Biblical values as the importance of chastity, marital fidelity, strict honesty, and prohibitions against adultery and promiscuity. Basically these magazines represent a value system that is diametrically opposite to the value system of the Bible. There is a conflict of value systems. The true lover of God loves goodness, virtue, and morality. The spirit of Playboy magazine is to love badness and immorality. Apr 1981 More from SolitaryRoad.com:
