Statistics on percentage of men who engage prostitutes — by country

In a couple of things that I have written I have used the illegitimate birthrate of a country as a indicator of the amount of fornication and adultery in a country and thus as an indicator of how moral a country is. See What are the most moral countries of the world? and Moral breakdown of the West revealed in the statistics on rates of child illegitimacy. By this measure the oriental countries come out looking very good and might seem to be very moral countries compared to the Western countries since they tend to have very low illegitimate birthrates. However I often watch the You Tube channel ADVChina and the two fellows on that channel, who have lived in China for many years and speak Chinese, say that brothels are everywhere in China and that most Chinese males (young and old) use them all of the time. They says prostitution is against the law in China but that in fact it is everywhere and that is just an example of the kind of contradictions that you find in China. Apparently use of brothels is part of the culture and it is very usual for males of all ages and social levels to visit prostitutes. One also said he thought the same thing applied to most oriental countries. Because of that it occurred to me to look on the internet and see if I could find any studies on the number of men in different countries who engage prostitutes. I did a Google search and found the following:

Percentage of Men (by Country) Who Paid for Sex at Least Once: The Johns Chart

The percentages in the chart shown for China are far lower than the percentages suggested by ADVChina. However, rates shown in the chart for Thailand and Cambodia are very high and confirm what was said on ADVChina. Thus because oriental countries have a low illegitimate birthrate doesn’t mean they are moral.
