The Friendship of the World

John 15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his
own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you
out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye
transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove
what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that
the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever
therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Titus 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly
lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this
   present world;

1 Peter 4:3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to
have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in
lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings,
and abominable idolatries: 4. Wherein they think it strange
that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking
   evil of you:

1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are
in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father
is not in him. 16. For all that is in the world, the lust of
the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is
not of the Father, but is of the world. 17. And the world
passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will
   of God abideth for ever.

1 Timothy 5:6 But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while
   she liveth.

2 Timothy 2:4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with
the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath
chosen him to be a soldier.

2 Timothy 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow
righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on
the Lord out of a pure heart.

Titus 3:3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish,
disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures,
living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

1 Peter 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves
according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

1 Peter 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and
pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the
   soul;

Col 3:1-17 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things
which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
{2} Set your affection on things above, not on things on the
earth. {3} For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in
God. {4} When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall
ye also appear with him in glory. {5} Mortify therefore your
members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness,
inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness,
which is idolatry: {6} For which things' sake the wrath of God
cometh on the children of disobedience: {7} In the which ye
also walked some time, when ye lived in them. {8} But now ye
also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy
communication out of your mouth. {9} Lie not one to another,
   seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; {10}
And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge
after the image of him that created him: {11} Where there is
neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision,
Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in
all. {12} Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and
beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind,
meekness, longsuffering; {13} Forbearing one another, and
forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any:
even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. {14} And above all
these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
{15} And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which
also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. {16} Let
the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching
and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. {17} And
whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the
Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
