An About-face

   I was looking for happiness, peace and truth.  I was miserable 
   and didn't know why; I was lost and didn't know the way.  What 
   was the right way?  Who knew the way?  Life was so superficial 
   and empty.  Then finally I found the way.  And when I found it 
   I suddenly realized my former error.  I had been seeking a 
   paradise in southern Florida.  And all the while I had actually 
   been in northern Manitoba and was travelling due north.  What 
   had the solution been?  First, an about-face.  Second, a bit of 
   travelling to attain the southern Florida destination.  But as 
   I travelled south the weather got warmer and nicer.  The about-
   face was a serious decision to go God's way completely --- 
   forsaking the way of this world and accepting him, his ways, 
   and his word absolutely and completely.  And the journey south 
   was ordering my life, habits, affections, and values after his 
   precepts and commandments.  As I ordered my life after his word 
   there came happiness, joy, peace and optimism;  I found myself 
   naturally friendly and loving others; I found a thousand 
   changes, a thousand joyful changes.  I had at last found the 
   right way and knew it.  The world, the masses, travel north; 
   you must travel south.
