Hot button topics
Some topics are hot button topics for some people. For example, when I was young the simple idea of IQ (Intelligence Quotient) was a big hot button topic for me. Just the simple thought of the idea started my blood boiling, set me into a long chain reaction of angry thoughts and feelings. And the more I thought about the idea, the angrier I got. I would quickly work myself up into a white heat by doing nothing more than thinking about it. No one needed to say anything to me to get the process going. It might get started by something I had just read or heard. Well, remembrance of this phenomenon of my past was just triggered by some reflections on something else:
I am a long time member of the American Family Association and a long time user of Discover Card. I just learned from the American Family Association that Discover Card has stopped allowing people to donate to the American Family Association using their Discover Card. Why? The reason is presumably because a few years ago the Southern Poverty Law Center listed the American Family Association as a hate organization because of its stance on homosexuality and Discover is presumably following a politically correct course of discriminating against hate organizations and haters. Well, the American Family Association has committed no other sin than standing for the Biblical stance on homosexuality. Now the Bible is absolutely clear on the topic of homosexuality. Its view is that it is wickedness of the very highest order. (See Lev 20:13, Rom 1:26-28, 1 Cor 6:9-10, Genesis 18:20 - 19:29) There is no ambiguity whatsoever in its position. If the American Family Association is a hate organization then it follows that the Bible is a hate book and all true Christians who believe as the Bible teaches are haters. And it follows logically that God himself is also a hater. (Because of this I am planning to send Discover a letter cancelling my Discover cards — and telling them why). Anyway, all this started me thinking about the current situation in the liberal politically correct West (including USA): anyone who doesn’t accept homosexuality is a hater. So I am a hater. The Bible is a hate book. The God of the Bible (Jehovah God) is a hater and a bad being. That is where we are today. The liberal Left is clearly aligned against the Bible and (true) Christianity. It is clearly aligned against conservative type people who believe in the Bible. The Bible and Christians are evil. It doesn’t take too much imagination to figure out where all of this is headed. If Liberalism wins, persecution for Christians is coming. Just thinking about this started getting me angry — just like I used to be made angry by the IQ concept. It started one of those angry circular mental processes going.
