At the end of the day all men are about two things: alcohol and sex.

I was just watching a You Tube video where three fellows who have spent years living in China were talking about life there. According to them drinking is very big in China, male infidelity is the cultural norm there, and prostitutes are everywhere. It seems use of prostitutes is an accepted norm at all income levels of the society and prostitutes are extremely cheap there. They were discussing the debauching effect that moving to China can have on a fellow. One of the guys then made the following statement: “Let’s face it. At the end of the day all men are about two things: alcohol and sex.” Well, that statement struck me. Certainly it is a big exaggeration. Not all men are about those two things. Not all men drink. Yet I realize that the statement does contain a huge amount of truth. It does seem like in most countries that I think of — the countries of Europe, Latin America, USA, that does pretty much describe most men. Islam is against alcohol and the sale of alcohol is illegal in some conservative Islamic countries such as Saudi Arabia. Also, many Hindus don’t drink. However, there is no doubt about the power of the sexual instinct in men and if there is no restraining force in the form of religious teaching or moral qualms, sexual promiscuity is what you get. If you assume that most men are not very religious, and are not very prudent either, drinking and sexual promiscuity is what you get. Drunkenness, debauchery and dissipation is what you get. That is where simple human nature leads. It is the wise, prudent, disciplined person who takes the high course.
