The wise man is a man of action

The wise man is not just a person of thought and reflection — he is also a person of action. When he sees that something ought to be done, he doesn’t put it off, procrastinate. He acts. He understands that it is important to act, imperative to act. He does what his mind tells him he should do. He doesn’t let his body rule, let laziness rule; procrastinate on acting. He acts, does what he knows he should do. He is a person of both thought and action.

Being a Christian doesn’t involve just knowledge, understanding, right outlooks, values, etc. It involves right conduct and behavior, right habits, right ways to live life. It involves doing those things you know you should do. It involves making the body obey the mind. Many people know what they should do but, for one reason or another, don’t do it.

I am sure that there are many readers of my website who understand the truth in the things that I say. They understand that I am right, realize that they ought to repent of their sins, turn to God, and start changing the way they live. Yet that is as far as it goes. In fact, they simply set the matter aside, procrastinate on any action, perhaps decide to give things a little more thought, stop reading from my website, and turn their attention back to the many mundane problems and cares of their daily life. I believe this is human nature and the usual course of events. Soon they have forgotten the entire matter and everything they read on my website. The Devil won. They were warned, thought about it, but didn’t do anything about it. They didn’t act. Perhaps they decided it was just too much trouble or the costs were just too great.
